A quick hat done on 8s with chunky yarn and simple cables, this baby turned out to be quite a hit! The grad students in my department had a Christmas party white elephant gift exchange this year: everyone brings a wrapped gift, names are pulled out of the hat, and when your name is called you have the option of either unwrapping a new gift, or stealing someone else's, who then gets to pick a new gift. It's a fun game, and I was happy when this hat kept being stolen around the room. Everyone who had it for a while and then had it stolen approached me afterwards and asked if I could make them one. I even got an offer for a $30 purchase! If I was not busy knitting the rest of my gifts, I might have considered it. And in the mean time, it's back to studying for finals.
