the epic shoe hunt

yes, the insanity has begun.

list of mistakes: first i decided that i want to wear blue shoes at my wedding. sadly, it turns out that most stores don't sell a lot of crazy color shoes, so i started shopping online. i figured it had to start somewhere, and here is where it started. now i continue to worry: are they too teal? do i like gold buckles and lining? do i want something slightly more fancy?

Here are some of the other shoes i might be considering: luichiny (also teal, but with silver lining and a rose) or maybe rsvp (more blue, bit more fancy), and on a completely different note, i might just buy these coconuts to wear to the reception. thoughts? suggestions?

sea and sky

For The Doremuses

May I present one of my most favorite projects in a long while; a beach throw for Ben's parents that I brought as a house warming gift when we visited in Puerto Rico. I loved the way it looked thrown over the back of a chair facing a window with a view of the ocean. The lace pattern is feathers and fans, so I figured this is the perfect meeting of sea and sky.

From the BrooklenTweed Hemlock Ring pattern, this was actually much easier to knit than it looks. K on circular US 10s, it is the perfect airplane project with one set of needles, one pattern, and lots of beautiful soft yarn, and it turns out very impressive. I will echo others advice when they say count your stitches on this one, but usually it is pretty easy to tell when something is wrong; counting is easier when every other st is supposed to be a yo! strawberry jam

yes, I am making my own jam. i am a jam hermit this week.

ingredients
* 2 pounds fresh strawberries, hulled
* 4 cups white sugar
* 1/4 cup lemon/lime juice

directions
1) crush the berries into 4 cups of berry pulp- you can use a blender
2) in saucepan, mix berry pulp with sugar and juice
3) stir over low heat until sugar is dissolved
4) increase heat to high and bring to rolling boil
5) boil, stirring often, for about 15-20 minutes
6) transfer to jars, add the lid, and put in cold water to seal
7) eat right away! i have no idea how to process jam, so this is not a save-for-the-apocalypse recipe
enjoy!
