For my FIL, to keep his head warm while hiking through the forests in his backyard, and chopping wood, and to go with the gloves I made him last year.

This was a really fun, simple pattern which just enough visual interest, and turned out great in this soft cotton yarn.  I didn't actually finish it in time to gift it on Christmas, but everyone had fun watching it's progress on the road trip down to the farm.  A success, surely.  How's your knitting?  Happy Monday!

northern lights

With some of my Christmas project yarn purchases came an excellent addition: a free sample of turquoise Biggo, an amazingly soft and squishy big bulky yarn.  I decided to knit myself (!) a cowl, using the northern loops pattern.

The pattern is fantastic, and just flew off my 13s and I was wearing it in no time.  In fact, I was wearing it to work, where my coworker was so admiring of it, he insisted on my making one for his wife.  In exchange, he bought me a lovely bottle of wine.  What fun!

Outside: Often.  Even in the cold.

bright lights

~ Merry Holidays and a very Happy New Year! ~

The days have been merry and bright indeed.  Apologizes for my long absence; I had the flu over Christmas itself and then spent the break flying and driving through many a state to see friends and family.  I hope you have been doing the same!  I have so much to share with you now that the holidays are over and gifts are given and sent, starting with this project I made for my Mom: Candy Lights.

The tutorial is here, it was a fun and fairly simple project with delightful results, a string of bright wrapped candy pieces.  What fun!

Onward we go into the new year, but let's not forget the brightness and joy of the holiday season!
